3D modelling – software used by our specialists

Depending on the type of specific order and our individual assumptions, for 3D modelling and design we use 

  • Catia – reverse engineering software (wspomagający projektowanie i produkcję);
  • SolidWorks – a quality control software (based on the parametric design principle);
  • PolyWorks – a modern quality control software from PolyWorks (software for quality control of dimensions, tools or parts, as well as the diagnosis and prevention of production and assembly problems).

Catia – reverse engineering software

Catia is a multi-platform software suite for computer-aided design (CAD), computer-aided manufacturing (CAM), computer-aided engineering (CAE), PLM and 3D, developed by the French company Dassault Systèmes. We work in one of the most extensive programs used for engineering work. It is used in aerospace and automotive industries. We use it mainly for reverse engineering. It is also great for design.(supporting design and production);a modern quality control programme from PolyWorks (software for quality control of dimensions, tools or parts, as well as the diagnosis and prevention of production and assembly problems).

SolidWorks – design and engineering software

SolidWorks is computer-aided design (CAD) software owned by Dassault Systèmes. It uses the parametric design principle and generates three types of linked files: part, assembly and drawing. Any modifications to one of these three files will be reflected in the other two automatically.

PolyWorks quality control software

Inspector is powerful industrial software for inspecting the quality of tools’ or parts’ dimensions, diagnosing and preventing manufacturing and assembly problems, directing building by measuring in real time, and overseeing the quality of assembled products using non-contact point cloud, digitizers, and single-point contact probing.

PolyWorks provides unique, updatable reporting technology that ensures report accuracy and dramatically speeds up inspection of multiple elements. Report elements, such as 3D scene screenshots and results tables, are automatically updated when the design changes. It is possible to modify design parameters or replace the measured data of the current feature with data points from a new feature, knowing that the entire inspection report will be automatically updated.

Which design software to choose?

A software that works well not only for 3D design, but also for reverse engineering is Catia. As far as quality control is concerned – the absolute ‘jackpot’ in this case is PolyWorks – an industrial tool used for:

  • preventing production and assembly problems,
  • managing construction through real-time measurements and quality monitoring.

Using PolyWorks, we can modify project parameters or replace the measured data of the current component with data points from a new component (the entire inspection report will then be automatically updated).
